Indefinite Pronouns
O estudo de pronomes é fundamental para o domínio de qualquer idioma. São estruturas básicas em geral fáceis que, no entanto, podem vir a causar dúvidas se não abordadas de maneira adequada. O principal problema é, sem dúvida, a tradução para a língua portuguesa, fonte de diversos desencontros, se não observada em contexto.
The pronouns study is fundamental for the mastery of any language. Basic structures are generally easy, however, are likely to cause doubts if not addressed properly. The main problem is undoubtedly the translation into Portuguese, source of many disagreements, if not observed in context.
Pronomes indefinidos são usados para se referir a pessoas ou a coisas, sem indicar exatamente quem ou o que estas são. Eles existem nas formas pura (some, any, no) e em seus compostos. Raros são os textos onde não encontramos pronomes indefinidos. Vale a pena ficar atento para os casos especiais e as variações de uso entre as formas puras e as formas compostas.
Indefinite pronouns are used to refer to persons or things, without indicating exactly who or what they are. They exist in pure forms (some, any, no) and its compounds. There are few texts which do not find indefinite pronouns. It is worth to pay attention to the special cases and usage variations between pure forms and composite forms.
Nas formas puras, os pronomes indefinidos geralmente vêm seguidos por substantivos (some coffee, any Money, no questions) e nas formas compostas, eles não exigem um complemento (We need somebody to love).
In pure forms, the indefinite pronouns usually come followed by nouns (some coffee, any Money in questions) and the compound shapes, they do not require a supplement (We need somebody to love).
Regra geral
Some:
1. Frases afirmativas em geral
Exemplos: Mary will buy some bread for breakfast.
We saw some friends at the club.
2. Antes de substantivos incontáveis com sentido indefinido
Exemplos: I need soe sugar to make the cake.
Ther´s some tea in the fridge.
3. Em frases interrogativas quando há oferecimento ou pedido
Exemplos: Would you care for some hot chocolate?
Could you give me some money for the movies, Dad?
Any:
1. Frases interrogativas em geral
Exemplos: Did they buy any souvenir for the children?
Do you need any further information?
2. Frases negativas
Exemplos: There isn´t any coffee in that botle.
We can´t have any trouble at all.
3. Frases afirmativas com o sentido de qualquer
Exemplos: You can take any of these books.
Any estudent knows the aswer for that.
4. Frases afirmativas com advérbios de sentido negativo (never, seldom, hardly, scarely, rarely)
Exemplos: I hardly every carry and money.
These students never miss any class.
No:
1. Frases afirmativas com ideia negativa (equivale a not any)
Exemplos: He has no money for the movies.
There´s no place like home.
None:
1. No fim de frases afirmativas, referindo-se a um substantivo já mencionado
Exemplos: She bought two new books but I bought none.
I would like to have a coke but there´s none left.
2. Seguido por OF + substantivo ou pronome no plural
Exemplos: None of the new students got on A.
None of them could attend the lecture.
Formas Compostas
As formas compostas de Some, Anu e No seguem as mesmas regras vistas anteriormente.
Some:
1. Somebody / Someone
Tradução: Alguém
Exemplos: There is somebody waiting for you outside.
We must hire someone who speaks French.
2. Something
Tradução: Algo, alguma coisa
Exemplos: I got something for you at Macy´s.
Paul has something to say about this water.
3. Somewhere
Tradução: Em algum lugar
Exemplos: Keep trying to find the tickets. They must be somewhere in the office.
4. Somehow
Tradução: De alguma forma
Exemplos: He is na average student but he somehow gets very good grades.
5. Sometime
Tradução: Alguma vez, em algum momento
Exemplos: Le tis meet again someti-me next year.
Any:
1. Anybody / Anyone
Tradução: Alguém, qualquer pessoa, ninguém
Exemplos: Anybody knows how to spell this word.
I can´t see anyone out there in the yard.
2. Anything
Tradução: Qualquer coisa, algo, nada
Exemplos: You can have anything you want for free.
Don´t say anything you might regret later.
3. Anywhere
Tradução: Em algum lugar, em qualquer lugar, em nenhum lugar
Exemplos: She can make friends anywhere in the world.
4. Anyway / Anyhow
Tradução: De alguma forma, de qualquer forma
Exemplos: We couldn´t meet the principal, but we wouldn´t manage to change our grades anyway.
5. Anytime
Tradução: A qualquer momento, em qualquer ocasião
Exemplos: I told them to call me anytime they felt like.
No:
1. Nobody / No one
Tradução: Ninguém
Exemplo: Nobody wants to be deceived.
2. Nothing
Tradução: Nada
Exemplo: Nothing can change what i feel for you.
3. Nowhere
Tradução: Em nenhum lugar
Exemplo: Nowhere else in the word will you see such wonderful landscape.
